The System Director of Total Rewards, reporting to the VPHR, will provide strategic leadership and hands-on development and implementation for total rewards initiatives for the University of Kansas Hospital. A proactive and innovative approach will be critical in ensuring that our rewards are competitive, and are understood and valued by our people managers and employees. This person will serve as a key member of the HR Leadership Team. This key position will be responsible for designing and managing The University of Kansas Hospital's total rewards programs, including executive and non-executive base salary, bonus and equity plans, benefits and employee wellness programs and provide guidance and leadership to the compensation and benefits team.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Lead the comprehensive strategy for total rewards, further developing compelling and innovative compensation and benefits programs aimed at attracting and retaining a highly talented workforce in a competitive environment
- Continuously evaluate rewards programs to ensure they are aligned with business and talent strategies
- Apply an understanding of the broad scope of HR and provide input to programs impacting the organization as a whole as an integral member of the HR Leadership Team
- Partner with Legal to monitor regulatory landscape and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Prepare and present materials regarding executive compensation and equity programs to the executive team and other key stakeholder to prepare recommendations.
- Provide guidance and leadership to compensation team.
- Perform market analysis to design the salary grade structure, recommend base increase budgets and base pay increase guidelines.
- Provide oversight of all benefits programs
- Design and manage benefits and wellness plans, promote employee understanding and engagement, and ensure ongoing legal compliance.
- Build and optimize compensation and benefits infrastructure, including key processes, relevant technology and communication vehicles
- Understand and deliver on contract management as well as the RFP process and contract renewal process. Responsible for the administration, financial management and compliance related activities of the Hospital’s mandatory and voluntary retirement savings plans and the state of Kansas KPERS program for employed participants. In collaboration with outside legal counsel, establishes and implements short-term and long-term workers compensation strategies to deliver services to employees with the Hospital and general oversight of the day to day functions of the workers compensation program.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- High School Graduate
- 10 or more years of experience in broad-based compensation, executive, and incentive plan strategy, design, and administration.
- Significant experience in using HR technology solutions to provide strong analytics and insights to the business to support decision making.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree MBA or advanced degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Prior experience working in Health Care.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) OR
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) OR
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) - Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
- Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP).
Knowledge Requirements
- Must demonstrate good judgment, strong business acumen, effective influencing, and leadership skills.
- Must also have key technical skills including project management, program management, and strong assessment and analytical skills.
- Capacity to engage in broad, complex analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Strong understanding of the competitive landscape, governance and innovation trends that affect the hospital.
- Capacity to transform, align and inspire others to pursue a new direction.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
