Physician - Neurologist (Neuropalliative Care)
The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Neurology at our Liberty Campus, is seeking a compassionate and academically minded Neuropalliative Care physician. This unique role combines general neurology with specialized palliative care for patients with serious neurological illnesses. The successful candidate will provide expert care across both inpatient and outpatient settings, addressing the complex needs of patients with conditions such as ALS, advanced dementia, high-grade gliomas, and other progressive neurologic diseases. New graduates and experienced physicians alike are encouraged to apply.
In this position, the physician will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes neurology subspecialists, palliative care providers, social workers, case managers, and rehabilitation professionals. Responsibilities include general neurology consultations, symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, advance care planning, and supporting transitions across care settings. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to education by teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as to participate in quality improvement and scholarly projects. Shared call responsibilities for general neurology are expected.
Required Qualifications:
MD, DO or equivalent
Board certified / eligible in Neurology
Fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and/or significant experience or interest in neuropalliative care
Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary team-based care and medical education
Interest or experience in research or program development in neuropalliative care
Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
