Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Supervisor assists/supports the department administratively and clinically. The Supervisor assists in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities. They assume responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of customer/patient care in the department. This role is responsible for efficient day to day operations and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity. Fosters and environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses and other healthcare team members.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Supervises the scheduling workflow of patients and determines the clinical appropriateness of the condition to the procedures. Monitors departmental productivity, improving scheduling accuracy to reduce day of procedure cancelations or delays. Supports department/ team level Command Center and daily huddles.
- Focuses on operational performance by developing, preparing and monitoring the personnel staffing schedules short term and long term, supply and equipment budgets in collaboration with the staff and support department directors to include applicable quality and throughput metrics.
- Collaborates with the Manager, Director and clinical leadership to establish patient care standards, scheduling guidelines and evaluates staff compliance. Serves as a mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction.
- Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance, meeting patient and family expectations for care while implementing mechanisms to ensure culturally specific care. Responds to customer concerns or complains with sensitivity and compassion in a timely fashion.
- Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluations of the staff. Works with the Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff. Makes recommendations and provides opportunities for growth and development of personnel and arranges for appropriate education and training for staff
- Creates and maintains a supportive work environment for the entire team. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward customers.
- Facilitates daily scheduling & staffing room review notification to Surgical and Procedural Leadership.
- Assists in template and block management in Epic and coordinates Advanced robotic scheduling access report in effort to optimize utilization.
- Assists with clinic education, communication and support to optimize clinic to OR/ procedural scheduling workflows. Coordinates with clinic and unit leadership on defect reporting and improvement action planning.
- Participates in LEAN process improvement developing standard operating procedures and guidelines specific to Scheduling. Monitors process improvement efforts. Conducts a defined number of Gemba observations for staff workflows and impact on supporting department workflows.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Associate Degree Nursing in the process of completing the BSN OR
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
- 3 or more years experience as a Surgical/Procedural RN
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Perioperative or Procedural experience
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact RN license
Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft office products
