Physician - Academic Rheumatologist
Academic Rheumatologist
The University of Kansas Health System, Division of Allergy, Clinical Immunology, and Rheumatology is seeking a dedicated and academically driven Rheumatologist to join our growing team. This position supports our mission of delivering exceptional patient care while fostering excellence in teaching, research, and academic scholarship.
The Division has a long and successful history and is comprised of sections of Allergy/Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. The Division consists of six Allergists, 10 rheumatologists, 1 additional rheumatologist to start in fall 2025, 1 double boarded Allergist/Rheumatologist, another Allergist/Rheumatologist at the VA Medical Center, 1 part-time pediatric Rheumatologist, and 2 Physician Assistants. The Division’s outstanding clinical support includes 4 clinical PharmDs, 1 on 1 RN support for each physician, and several LPNs and MAs.
The Rheumatology Fellowship trains 6 fellows, and Allergy/Immunology Fellowship trains 4 fellows. The divisional Clinical Trials Unit is supported by 1 regulatory staff, 1 NP, 1 RN and 3 study coordinators. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is actively utilized in the clinic and is incorporated in the fellows’ curriculum. The rheumatology clinics are in 3 locations including on the main campus. Several subspecialty clinics provide disease-oriented care in collaboration with other medical and surgical disciplines. Two Infusion Therapy Units work closely with the Division.

Balanced inpatient and outpatient clinical practice
Diverse patient population with a range of routine and complex rheumatologic conditions
Active involvement in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students
Engagement in educational conferences and academic activities including School of Medicine
Opportunity to lead or participate in rheumatology subspecialty clinics
Opportunity to engage in clinical trials
Required Qualifications:
MD, DO, or equivalent degree
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Rheumatology fellowship
Board Certification in Rheumatology
Eligibility for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri
Preferred Qualifications:
MD/PhD and/or a clinician with well-established research background
Clinical experience in rheumatology practice, and expertise in a specific disease
Interest and expertise in clinical, basic or translational research
