This position carries formal authority over Workday Financials configuration and governance, enabling the organization to move efficiently on system decisions, prioritize enhancements strategically, and maintain a strong controls environment. It also provides leadership oversight for a growing team of Workday Financials analysts and administrators, with responsibility for developing internal technical capability over time.

It also provides leadership oversight for a growing team of Workday Financials analysts and administrators, with responsibility for developing internal technical capability over time.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Serve as the functional and technical owner for Workday Financials and its related functional areas, including decision authority respective to configuration design and business process architecture.
- Manage the integrity of financial structures including work tags, ledgers, and organizational hierarchies.
- Lead Workday release cycles, evaluating new functionality, directing appropriate testing, and deploying enhancements aligned to organizational priorities.
- Drive enhancements to configuration and architecture that improve system functionality, increase automation, and reduce manual workarounds.
- Evaluate and implement Workday features aligned to organizational and departmental priorities.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, integrations, and system standards.
- Serve as subject matter expert for Workday FIN security design, including domain security, security group structure and design, business process security, and segregation of duties principles.
- Partner with HITS security administration to communicate, evaluate, and implement security changes for FIN functional areas.
- Conduct regular access reviews and escalate findings through appropriate channels.
- Maintain documentation of security design decisions and rationale to support audit readiness and institutional knowledge.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for Workday Financials workstreams associated with transactions or new entities.
- Direct configuration approach and architectural decision-making for new entity integrations, ensuring alignment with existing system design and governance standards.
- Partner with Finance and operational leadership to translate transaction-specific requirements into scalable system solutions.
- Lead design and oversight of integrations between Workday Financials and other systems.
- Partner with HITS to develop and maintain integrations using appropriate Workday tools (EIB, Workday Studio, Extend, APIs).
- Ensure accurate and timely financial data flow between systems; troubleshoot and resolve integration failures with sustainable, scalable solutions
- Oversee configuration of financial data structures to support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Enable reporting capabilities through Workday-native reports and dashboards.
- Support data governance practices to maintain consistency, accuracy, and usability of financial data.
- Provide leadership oversight for a team of Workday Financials administrators and analysts.
- Develop and deliver technical training for team members, with emphasis on configuration standards and security and process design.
- Establish documentation practices and knowledge transfer frameworks to build internal technical capability and reduce organizational reliance on single points of expertise.
- Set technical standards and governance practices for the team.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- 8 or more years of experience supporting ERP or financial systems, with substantial time in ERP or financial systems roles.
- 8 or more years of experience in functional and technical expertise in Workday FIN, including business process configuration, security, and integration design.
- 8 or more years of experience in accounting operations and financial reporting - the ability to evaluate system design from a financial practitioner's perspective is essential to this role.
- 8 or more years of experience with Workday integration tools (EIB, Workday Sutdio, APIs) and enterprise system environments.
- 8 or more years of demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into durable technical solutions.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- 10 or more years of experience supporting or leading system workstreams in merger, acquisition, or entity onboarding.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - State Board of Accountancy
Required Language Skills
- Fluent English - write and speak English.
